Scottish heritage societies in South America:

  • The Highland Heritage Society, Buenos Aires
Club del Progreso - Sarmiento 1334 - Gatherings on Fridays from 9.30 PM. 'Our society was founded on August 14, 1998. As young and fresh as it is, our achievements in such a short time were many. 1. We were the first Scottish Society in Argentina to bring a Scottish Orchestra. We have been honoured to have Mr. Iain MacPhail and his Scottish Country Dancing band playing live at the Colon Hotel and the American Club venues. As those in the Scottish music world know, Mr. Iain MacPhail played for Her Majesty at Balmoral Castle in 2001. 2. We are in permanent contact with other Scottish country dances societies in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; USA, Scotland and Australia to bring and learn new Scottish Country Dances every month. 3. We organize lectures on British History and literature in general, and on Scottish History and Literature in particular. 4. We foster all sorts of cultural activities related to Scotland. Our activities are many because our interests as a cultural entity are to share knowledge and make new friends, so with that in mind, we are in permanent contact with other Scottish Societies around the globe. For more information about our activities, please contact us at highlandheritage@infovia.com.ar The contact names are: Irene Lopez and Edward MacDougall.'
