** the final core class of the semester
** was held on Monday 16 March, 2-3:30 p.m., at the National Library of Scotland, where Kevin Halliwell introduced some of the relevant paper and digital collections for Transatlantic study. His summary was as follows:

"There will be a general introduction to the Library and its collections, pointing in particular to collections of relevance to Transatlantic Studies. This will include modern and antiquarian collections and manuscripts. I will also cover information sources about the collections, both printed and online. I am also hoping to demonstrate the digital collections of early American imprints we have in the Library. After that I will talk about different types of 'Transatlantic' literature, including the literature of emigration, both literary and 'marginal' texts. A discussion of textual types and relations should hopefully draw out topics of further interest. I will try to bring along examples of these and other possible items of interest to Transatlantic Studies."
